Design Statement:
Meet and Connect The client is a company and the first cross-border electricity transmission operator in Europe. With 20,000 miles of high-voltage lines and 36 million end users in Germany and Netherlands, the client belongs to the top 5 electricity transporters of Europe. At the end of last year 2013, the client moved their 3 offices into a newly built Headoffice which is called 'Mariëndaal Centre of Excellence', located in the city of Arnhem. Meet and connect is the theme for the interior design of the new client Headoffice. Working in an inspiring area, meet and meetings are the key elements in this new building. Employees are stimulated to collaborate and have easy access to eachother. In the interior design a corresponding match with the outside landscape is created by choosing for natural & sustainable materials. These materials reinforce the combination effect between the outside landscape and the interior architecture. All floors and areas are open and connect with eachother. By looking at all activities, the work environment corresponds with the people and their working processes. For every activity, there are different building blocks, areas for concentrated working, teamtables, workbenches, meetingtables and loungeareas. Employees do not work from their own desk, but find a building block or working area which fits best within their activity and comfortzone. The work environment influences and increases a much more effective work attitude. People need diversity. In the interior design, different colours and picture walls are used in the meeting areas Cradle to Cradle products are selected with an ageless design: Wooden floors, glass wallsystems which can be easily taken apart, steelwalls and acoustic wooden planks against the innercore walls. By selecting sustainable products and a sustainable interior through out the whole building, the client wants to contribute to a better, healthier, cleaner environmental and sustainable world. The whole interior is designed for future easy disassembling. This to improve future recycling in the most possible and effective way.
